We’re Accidentally in Love with Shrek’s Swamp Airbnb
Fans of Shrek know what an iconic home the titular ogre has.

Beginning with the first Shrek film, we learn that Shrek lives in solitude in his swamp, but he is forced to go on an adventure to get his swamp back after fairytale creatures seek refuge there. Of course, he later lives there with his wife, Fiona, and their children. If you’ve dreamed of staying in Shrek’s Swamp, we promise you’re not alone — and now here’s your chance!
Shrek’s Swamp on Airbnb
For this Halloween season, a few lucky guests will have the opportunity to stay in Shrek’s Swamp, hosted by Airbnb!

Shrek’s Swamp is located in the Scottish Highlands and up to three guests will be able to stay for two nights from October 27th to the 29th.
The space consists of two bedrooms and one bathroom, although note that the bathroom (toilet, sink, and shower) is located in a standalone property 20 meters/65 feet from the main living area.

According to Airbnb, this listing was created by Donkey himself, and he is quoted as saying, “Shrek’s Swamp is lovely. Just beautiful. The perfect place to entertain guests.
“You know what I like about it? Everything. The overgrown landscaping, the modest interiors, the nice boulders, all of it. I can’t wait for guests to experience this muddy slice of paradise for themselves.”

This listing will cost £0, which Airbnb said is “a nod to the priceless refuge Shrek’s Swamp has provided fairytale creatures of all kinds.”

Booking opens on October 13th at 6PM BST at airbnb.com/shrek. Guests are responsible for booking and paying for travel to and from Scotland.

And “to honor good childhood memories that last a lifetime,” Airbnb will make a one-time donation to HopScotch Children’s Charity, a program that gives vulnerable and disadvantaged children in Scotland opportunities to experience respite breaks and holiday trips.

Some of the activities guests can enjoy during their stay include:
- Relax in the ambiance of “earwax candlelight”
- Kick their feet up with a parfait (everybody likes a parfait!)
- Swap stories around the fire until late in the night
- Enjoy a stack of freshly made waffles in the morning
- And of course, enjoy the ultimate privacy of Shrek’s trusted outhouse (you know the one)

Booking rules are as follows:
- In order to request to book this stay, guests must have an active Airbnb profile, agreement to the Airbnb Terms of Service and acknowledgment of the Airbnb Privacy Policy, with a good track record on the platform.
- The fellow traveling party members must be at least 5+ years of age.
- Guests must be able to provide a government-issued ID.
- Guests must enter a complete message when submitting the request to book, letting the Host know, among other things, who will be joining them.
- Guests acknowledge Airbnb may conduct a review of public records.
- Airbnb and the Host reserve the right to reject a request to book if, in either’s discretion, it is believed the stay may have an adverse effect on Airbnb and/or the Host’s business or reputation.
- This two-night stay is not a contest. Guests are responsible for their own travel to and from Scotland. This property is independently owned and operated by Ardverikie Estate. Universal Studios Licensing LLC was compensated for providing rights to the use of DreamWorks Animation’s SHREK and the Donkey character.
