Is It the End for Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit at Universal Orlando?
A new rumor is swirling around the Orlando theme parks, and it is pretty big! Universal Orlando’s Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit could soon be shutting down.
Documents filed with the South Florida Water Management District indicate the park plans to replace the iconic roller coaster with a new attraction that will occupy nearly the same ride area and a few backstage areas. Here is what we know.
New Filings
Here is a look at the permits filed on December 23rd:
The filings address potential environmental and drainage impacts and suggest the new project will include three additional buildings and modifications to the area’s drainage system. While no official announcements or details have been released, the move signals big changes ahead for this section of the park.
Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit
Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit is a fan-favorite steel roller coaster that debuted in 2009. It is known for its 167-foot height, 65 mph top speed, and 3,800 feet of thrilling track.
Its unique feature allows riders to select their own soundtrack, creating a personalized music-driven experience.
Over the years, the popular roller coaster has faced its share of challenges, including technical issues. Incidents in October 2019 and November 2023 even required fire crews to evacuate riders stuck mid-ride.
One thing is certain- we are excited to see what will be coming next and will be monitoring this story closely for new or updates.
