Cavanagh joined Comcast in 2015 as CFO before being promoted to President.
Prior to Comcast, he spent two decades in financial services, serving as Co-CEO of JPMorgan Chase’s corporate and investment bank and as the company’s CFO for six years.
Roberts is the son of Comcast’s late founder, Ralph Roberts, and has led the company for decades.
“Mike has proven himself to be a trusted and collaborative leader,” Roberts said in a press release. “He is the ideal person to help lead Comcast as we manage the pivot we are making to drive growth across the company. Mike and I work seamlessly together, and I am thrilled to be partnering with him as Co-CEO and with the rest of our talented management team, for years to come.”

Mike Cavanagh stepped in to run NBCUniversal after its former leader left. Last year, he also led the move to separate many of NBCU’s cable channels into a new company called Versant.
Now, as Co-CEO of Comcast, he will help guide the company through the shift away from traditional cable TV and toward streaming services.

“Comcast is a special company with exceptional businesses and an incredible team. It is an honor to work with Brian and the entire Comcast NBCUniversal leadership team during this exciting and transformative time in our industry,” Cavanagh said.
