Twins Sue Universal Over Harry Potter Ride Malfunction
Universal Orlando faces yet another lawsuit this year.
Twin brothers Derrick and Erick Burrough have filed lawsuits against Universal Orlando Resort, claiming they suffered serious back and neck injuries after a Harry Potter ride malfunctioned at Epic Universe.

Represented by Morgan & Morgan, the brothers each seek more than $50,000, alleging the injuries caused a “loss of ability to lead and enjoy a normal life.”
The incident occurred on Christmas Day, when the pair rode Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry, a new attraction within the Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic.

According to the lawsuits, a malfunction caused the vehicle to stop abruptly, leaving the brothers “thrusted erratically” in their seats and sustaining “significant” injuries.
The brothers suffered “disability, physical impairment, disfigurement, mental anguish and inconvenience; expense of hospitalization, medical and nursing care and treatment; and past lost wages, loss of earning power and diminished earning capacity,” according to the lawsuits.

Attorney John Morgan said, “The most important job of a theme park is to keep its guests safe. Instead, Universal allegedly operated a ride that had been plagued by repeated malfunctions, glitches and hard stops since it opened.”
“Our clients continue to seek treatment for their injuries,” Morgan added, “which are impacting their everyday lives.”

Online users have also reported similar issues with the Battle at the Ministry ride. Some guests even describe being stuck for over an hour during sudden stops.
Universal has not yet responded to the claims.
