Universal Orlando Resort Lays Off Employees
Universal Orlando Resort has laid off an undisclosed number of employees despite their reopening 2 weeks ago. The layoffs happened Tuesday and it affects multiple departments, although Universal would not state which departments were affected or how many employees were let go.
Universal has released an official statement”
We are working to structure and strengthen our business for the future in anticipation of the tourism industry taking time to fully recover. In that regard, we have already taken important steps such as adjusting budgets and implementing salary reductions and furloughs. Most recently, we have made the difficult decision to reduce our Parks & Resorts workforce across multiple locations and business units. This decision was not made lightly, but was necessary to prepare us for the future. We are aware of the impact this will have on those affected by this reduction and their families, and we are working to support them through this process. This includes severance pay, subsidized health benefits and professional reemployment assistance.
Universal said it will be supporting laid-off employees through severance pay, subsidized health benefits, and professional reemployment assistance.
Universal Orlando Resort just reopened 2 weeks ago and has had great success with their new health and safety guidelines.
The CDC advises that older adults and people of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions might be at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19. Guests should evaluate their risk in determining whether to attend. People who show no symptoms can spread COVID-19 if they are infected, any interaction with the general public poses an elevated risk of being exposed to COVID-19, and we cannot guarantee that you will not be exposed during your visit to Universal Orlando Resort.
