Volcano Bay Will Be Closed Two Days A Week Starting In September
Universal Orlando announced this week that they will be cutting the operating hours at their Volcano Bay water park. The changes will start beginning on Tuesday, September 8th. Starting at this time, Volcano Bay will be closed EVERY Tuesday and Thursday.
According to a piece on MyNews13, Universal said that the change in the schedule was based on “operational needs and travel trends.” This is just one of several announcements Universal has made over the last few weeks presumably as a response to lower-than-expected crowds levels. In early August they made the decision to shut down some lower traffic attractions across Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. This includes:
- A Day In The Park With Barney & Friends (Universal Studios)
- Fast & Furious: Supercharged (Universal Studios)
- Kang & Kodos’ Twirl ‘n’ Hurl (Universal Studios)
- Fear Factor Live (Universal Studios)
- Poseidon’s Fury (Islands of Adventure)
- Storm Force Accelatron (Islands of Adventure)
Last week, Universal Orlando closed two of its resort properties: Loews Sapphire Falls Resorts and The Aventura. At that time a spokesperson for the company said, “We continue to evaluate our offerings and have decided to consolidate our hotel operations as we manage through current conditions.”
With the news of Volcano Bay reducing their operating schedule, closing select attractions and hotels it is definitely a time of big changes.
