Universal Orlando’s Volcano Bay Set to Reopen This Month
Boy, do I have some exciting news to share with y’all today! Universal Orlando just confirmed that Volcano Bay will officially reopen on Saturday, February 27 after being closed for the colder winter months!
Up until today, Universal Orlando had stated that the popular water park would open on or before March 1, so it’s extra nice it is opening a few days earlier than originally thought. Volcano Bay closed for the season and for a refurbishment back on November 2, 2020.

Universal Orlando is giving Guests a warning before they plan their day at Volcano Bay to let them know that with COVID restrictions in place and Guests are urged to check capacity before heading over for a day in the sun.
Universal Orlando says:
Due to increased demand, while we limit attendance as part of our enhanced procedures, parks may reach capacity more quickly at times throughout the year, and entry to the parks may be limited or unavailable for the day of the visit at times throughout the year. You can check Theme Par Hours on our mobile app for hours of operation, or call the capacity hotline at 407-817-8317.
Face coverings are required in the common areas at Volcano Bay but are not required when in the water and enjoying water slides and attractions.
If you are looking for a less crowded time to visit Volcano Bay at Universal Orlando, I suggest visiting during the week – just make sure it’s not a holiday! I was there on a Monday back in October and it was like we had the whole water park to ourselves.
Another pro tip for visiting Volcano Bay: splurge on the private cabanas! These come stocked with bottles of water and fruit. In addition, you have a dedicated waiter/waitress to bring your delicious food and beverage items off the menu. It’s also the perfect way to social distance!
