Universal Announces Plans for Horror-Themed Destination in Las Vegas
Lots of exciting news coming out of Universal today! They first announced a new family-friendly resort coming to Frisco, Texas. And, now, riding the popularity of Halloween Horror Nights at both Universal locations in Florida and Hollywood, a year-round, horror-themed destination will be coming to Las Vegas!

Per Bloomberg.com, Universal’s horror-themed destination in Las Vegas will be located in the Area15 entertainment complex. Area15, which opened during the height of COVID in Vegas, has been a huge success and has plans for a 20-acre expansion. The new Universal destination will anchor this new expansion at over 110,000 square feet.
Area15 is located just off the iconic Vegas strip off Interstate 15. The complex is also home to the immersive art experience, Meow Wolf’s Omega Mart, themed restaurants, and other entertainment venues.

Universal has an extensive history when it comes to horror-related projects. From classic, horror-themed characters such as Dracula and Frankenstein to today’s approach of working with new and modern producers and directors like Jason Blum, Jordan Peele, and James Wan.
Both the classic and present-day horror movies will be well represented in the upcoming Universal destination in Las Vegas.

Mark Woodbury, Chairman of Universal Resorts, said, “Horror is not just for Halloween anymore at Universal.”
Tourism to theme parks has been booming in recent years. Riding the success, Universal also will be opening a Nintendo Land at Universal Hollywood next month. In addition, an all-new theme park, Epic Universe, will be opening at the Universal Orlando Resort in 2025.

These new locations are already in addition to a strong theme park presence in California, China, Singapore, and Japan.
