UniversalParksBlog News for October 19th, 2025
We finally have some great Universal Studios information after a tough few weeks!
In UniversalParksBlog News, we’ll cover all the latest happenings at Universal Kids Resort.
Accurately Named

Universal
As Kristin Sabol reported the other day, Universal officials have revealed details about the next theme park.
Universal Kids Resort, currently scheduled to open in 2026, is no longer just theoretical.

Thanks to a recent news drop, we now know all the themed lands coming to this park.
Let’s just say that parents with small children are going to love everything you’re about to hear.

Universal
Universal Kids Resort will feature seven themed lands, all with name recognition.
Universal Orlando Resort fans will recognize one, and another sounds familiar.
The rest promise new activities and experiences, although I’m sure there will be some overlap.
Let’s start with the existing themed area, Shrek’s Swamp, which currently resides at DreamWorks Land.

Soon, the Universal Studios Florida version won’t be the only one, as Frisco, Texas, will add its own.
The new park has posted this information, and you can read it here. For example, here’s the Shrek description:

“In DreamWorks’ Shrek’s Swamp, meet Shrek and Fiona as they take you through their fairytale — or ogretale — love story.”
This area will contain a Fiona and Shrek character greeting, as well as a ride and a play area.

The first one is Shrek & Fiona’s Happily Ogre After, which will tell the story of “how an ogre and a princess were enchanted by love.”
Then, the play area is called Shrek’s Swamp Slash and Smash, which Shrek’s triplets have built.
More Themed Areas and Rides

Perhaps the strangest name for a themed land is Illumination’s Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club.
Just from the name, you can tell that kids are gonna love this one, as it’s got cartoon violence.
According to the official site, here’s what you can expect:
“Let the games begin as Illumination’s Minions overrun a peaceful retreat.
When Yellow Minions try to tame their Purple counterparts, it leads to a wave of unpredictable, water-soaked fun.
Join this action-packed competition, or just relax and watch the chaos unfold.
Either way, every splash, laugh and surprise might just bring everyone closer together.”
This section will include a Minions character encounter and some sort of rafting wet ride.

Universal
The next themed land is DreamWorks’ TrollsFest, which promises the following:
“Sing your heart out and dance like no one’s watching at DreamWorks’ TrollsFest — the glitter-filled party where Poppy, Branch and friends are jamming out to the best tunes in Troll Kingdom.
Climb aboard Rhonda’s TrollsFest Express, get a totally Trolls-ified makeover at Sparkle Shine Glitter Glow and explore Troll Kingdom at Poppy’s Playland.”
We know from the press materials that this area will include two play zones and a dance party.
The documents also suggest a sensory garden, a children’s roller coaster, and “Sparkle Shine Glitter Glow.”
There’s a picture that shows an airborne spinner ride with a balloon theme.

Universal
That may be Sparkle Shine Glitter Glow, but I’m merely speculating here, as the name doesn’t really fit.
Even More Themed Areas and Rides
Next up is Jurassic World Adventure Camp, whose images show some sort of rope-walk play area.
This themed land will include another children’s coaster, a drop tower ride, and something else.
Mr. DNA’s Double-Helix Spin sounds like some sort of child-friendly spinner ride.
Oh, and you can meet some dinosaurs here, just like at Universal’s Islands of Adventure.

Universal
DreamWorks’ Puss in Boots in Del Mar shares at least some surface similarities some DreamWorks Land experiences.
Guests at the new park can meet Mama Luna, Perrito, and Puss in Boots here.

While in the area, you can check out another sensory garden and play some carnival games.
There’s also a puppet show of some sort and Swings Over Del Mar, a swing ride as the name implies.

Isle of Curiosity featuring Gabby’s Dollhouse will act as the central hub of the park, akin to Celestial Park.
Universal promises “A central hub with interactive play areas and shady lawns for rest & recharge, plus an immersive retail experience where guests can meet characters from Gabby’s Dollhouse.”
So, park officials are plainly stating that this will be a hangout park where parents can relax.
That’s important, as the kids here are gonna be little balls of energy the whole time.
So, giving the parents spots to kick back and enjoy a vacation day is an important move.
I’m not the target audience for this park, but if I were, I’d hang out at Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants Bikini Bottom.
You will “boat around Bikini Bottom” during your visit to this themed land, which sounds wonderful.
This area promises a relaxation area in addition to a play area and several character greetings.

You can also experience Mrs. Puff’s Boating School during your visit.
Universal didn’t elaborate on what that is, though.
Final Thoughts
We knew when Universal announced this park that it would offer a different tone.
Universal Studios already caters to adults with its many attractions and events.
Since the kids cannot visit Halloween Horror Nights – I mean, they can, but they shouldn’t – they get this.
Frankly, the whole thing sounds very well thought out and like something families will love.

More relaxation spots and play areas are a 2020s theme park trend.
So, Universal’s smart to lean hard into the premise with a comfortable, inviting theme park.
