We will announce the re-opening date once decided
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Universal Studios Japan was temporarily closed from February 29th through June 7th last year to support the prevention of the Covid-19 spread. Since then, they have participated in organizing and updating the “Novel Coronavirus Spread Prevention Guidelines for Theme Parks and Amusement Parks” together with various corporations and related organizations.
After the initial temporary closure, the park had moderately re-started its operation from June 8th, 2020. The health and safety of the guests and team members continue to be top priority, they have thorough sanitization enhancement measures such as controlling the attendance capacity within the park in accordance with the said guideline and guidance from the government and local authorities.
Even though they are now closing temporarily for the second time to follow the request from the government and the local authorities, they are still willing to work towards supporting the quick recovery of the economic activities and the tourism and entertainment industry.
This State of Emergency extends to the prefectures of Tokyo, Hyogo, and Kyoto, along with Osaka due to the surge of new COVID-19 cases. It’s set to last from April 25, 2021, through May 11, 2021, which covers Golden Week (one of the biggest holidays in Japan).
Vaccination within Japan has been a slow rollout with only about 1% of the population having received at least one shot so far.
