Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit Catches Fire at Universal Orlando
Universal is in the news again. Fire crews responded to a small blaze on the now-closed Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit roller coaster at Universal Orlando.
The ride permanently closed back in August and was already under demolition for a new attraction.
Coaster Fire
Universal Orlando’s closed Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit roller coaster made headlines again Friday morning after a small fire broke out on its tracks.
The Orlando Fire Department confirmed that firefighters were called to the scene to suppress an “active fire on the tracks of a closed coaster.”
The popular thrill ride officially closed on August 18, 2025, following Universal’s announcement in December 2024 that it would be replaced by a new attraction.
Demolition work began shortly after the final ride on August 17.
No injuries have been reported, and it remains unclear what caused the fire. Crews acted quickly to contain the flames, and local officials described the incident as minor.
