Epic Universe Set to Boost Universal Orlando Attendance in 2025
Epic Universe is set to open next year, and fans are ready! Though the resort has experienced a succession of soft quarters since the pandemic, that is expected to change.
Comcast, NBCUniversal’s parent company, expects attendance at Universal theme parks to rebound by next summer, following a dip after record-breaking years in 2022 and 2023.
Theme Park Resurgence
According to Comcast President Mike Cavanagh, the theme park dip stemmed from heightened demand immediately following the pandemic and a lighter lineup of new attractions in 2024.
However, the opening of Universal Orlando’s fourth park, Epic Universe, is expected to change this.
Epic Universe will officially open on May 22nd, 20205, and will feature several different lands, including The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Ministry of Magic, SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, How to Train Your Dragon — Isle of Berk, Dark Universe, and Celestial Park.
There is also the addition of the large resort hotel, Universal Helios Grand Hotel, with Comcast aiming to transform Universal into a full-week destination.
The park is anticipated to be premium-priced, featuring unique offerings and one-of-a-kind park appeal.
Early demand for the park has already been strong, with Universal planning a significant marketing campaign to drive excitement building up to its official grand opening.
Comcast has recently doubled down on theme parks as a key growth area. Investors initially reacted to softer attendance numbers, but Comcast believes these results are unrealistic and expects attendance to normalize and grow with the opening of Epic Universe.
This new growth will further solidify Universal Orlando as a top-tier destination.
