Poseidon’s Fury To Close Permanently Next Month
Universal Orlando has announced that they will be closing attraction Poseidon’s Fury in May. For those unfamiliar, the attraction is located in The Lost Continent section of the Islands of Adventure theme park. According to Universal, the attraction’s final day of operations will be on May 9, 2023.
We don’t know yet what will be replacing Poseidon’s Fury, however, Universal has said that they’ll be closing the ride to prepare for “exciting new experiences.”

The attraction Poseidon’s Fury first opened in 1999 and is a walkthrough experience that takes visitors through the Temple of Poseidon. Guests follow and guide through ancient ruins culminating in a stand-off between Poseidon and Lord Darkennon. The attraction features special effects, lasers, projections, and even a water tunnel.

The last time we covered Poseidon’s Fury was back in March of last year. At that time the attraction reopened after being closed for two years. During the closure, Poseidon’s Fury did have some routine maintenance done including a refreshing up of the exterior.
As Spectrum News points out, this is just one of several changes at Universal Orlando. Earlier this year, Woody Woodpecker’s KidZone was closed at Universal Studios. Last year the Shrek 4-D attraction was also closed. The always popular Minions from Despicable Me are also getting a second attraction Villian-Con Minion Blast which is opening this summer and will be the start of what Universal has said will be a new Minion Land.

All of these changes are in addition to the new EPIC Universe theme park slated to open in Summer 2025. A highlight of the new park will be Super Nintendo World.
