We Tried 4 NEW Unique Snacks Now Available at Universal Studios Florida
In case you missed it, Minions are taking over Universal Studios Florida!
The front area of Universal Studios Florida is being transformed into Minion Land, starring the characters from the popular Despicable Me film series. The reimagined land is expected to open in Summer 2023, and we recently visited to check out the construction progress — and we found new SNACKS!
Minion Land Snack Cart
Now located next to Minion Land is a new snack cart featuring a variety of options — including plant-based!
Other than the Breakfast Empanada, which is not plant-based, other vegan options include Vegan Hand Pie, Everything Pretzel, Lemon Hummus, Pineapple Bowls, Snowballs, and even a Vegan Dark Chocolate Brownie.
Let’s check out a few things on the menu!
Everything Pretzel
The Everything Pretzel is topped with everything seasoning and served with a spicy curry and vegan aïoli dipping sauce for $7.49.
The pretzel was really good! It was buttery and not at all dry, which you can find with some theme park soft pretzels.
You definitely taste the everything seasoning from the pretzel but most of the flavor comes from the aïoli. We also definitely tasted the curry and it was really good — nice and mild enough for anyone to enjoy. This snack is all about spices, but it was not too hot or spicy, if that makes sense.
We really enjoyed it and would definitely order it again!
Vegan Hand Pie
The Vegan Hand Pie is served with a flaky crust and savory vegetable filling for $9.49.
We thought the hand pie was interesting. It had a unique aftertaste, which we weren’t sure if it was due to the veggies or the plant-based “meat.”
The pastry was flaky and delicious too.
We would probably pick the pretzel over this but we did like it and it’s a great option for plant-based eaters!
Vegan Dark Chocolate Brownie
Next up is the Vegan Dark Chocolate Brownie for $4.29. This plant-based brownie was thick and covered in a layer of chocolate icing and chocolate chunks.
According to MickeyBlogger Kayla, this was just about the best brownie she ever had!! It had just the right level of richness and the frosting wasn’t too sweet.
It reminded her of cafeteria brownies from elementary school but way better. Although this is a vegan treat, she said you’d never know it was vegan.
It was a great size for sharing and surprisingly not overly sweet or sugary.
We would definitely grab this again during a visit to Universal — and then again on the way out of the park!
Snowballs
The Snowballs iced drink is flavored with raspberry, tamarind, and/or coconut for $4.99.
The ice was a little chunky and we definitely need a spoon. We got all three flavors together, but you can also just choose one if you want!
The raspberry was slightly sweet, the coconut taste was more creamy than sweet, and the tamarind was very mild. Altogether, the three flavors were really nice and complimentary!
We wish this was more of a slushy than an iced drink, but it was still really good. Just expect it to melt fast like ours did! Also, note that the Team Members could not confirm whether this drink is plant-based.
