Universal Orlando Resort Wait Times for June 2023
With the end of Memorial Day, we’ve unofficially started the summer theme park season.
That’s the season when every park in America does its best non-holiday business of the year.
Before we get to that point, we must discuss what’s technically the slow season at the parks.
Here are the average wait times at Universal Orlando Resort for the past month.
About Universal Studios Florida
Something I should stress about this month’s wait times is that I cannot see the future.
What I call the June wait times represent the ones for the previous month, which was May 2023.
Generally, theme park operators consider May a less crowded time on the calendar.
Many vacationers wait until summer vacation starts at school before they visit the parks. Also, Universal remains in a transitional phase.
As a reminder, Universal is currently replacing the following attractions:
- Curious George Goes to Town
- DreamWorks Destination
- Fievel’s Playground
- Meet Shrek and Donkey
- Poseidon’s Fury
- Woody Woodpecker’s Nuthouse Coaster
These decisions come on the heels of last year’s shutdown of Shrek 4-D.
So, we’re tracking fewer rides than normal.
Universal Studios Florida – The Big Four
Soon, Universal Studios Florida will expand to have a big five. That will occur when Minion Land opens this summer.
For now, we don’t have Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast to include in the data, but it’s no more than two months away from happening!
Until then, the top attraction will likely remain Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts.
The Harry Potter combo roller coaster and dark ride averaged a wait of 47 minutes, which is a sizable 15 minutes less than last time.
As I said, May is generally a slow month at theme parks, save for Memorial Day Weekend.
We can also see this with Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem, which averaged a wait of 42 minutes.
So, this ride has also shaved 18 minutes off its wait from last month.
The other members of the Big Four are Rip Ride Rockit and Revenge of the Mummy.
Universal’s outdoor coaster averaged a paltry wait of 33 minutes, which is 12 minutes or 27 percent less than last time.
Meanwhile, the indoor coaster, which I call the better coaster, averaged a 41-minute wait.
That’s seven minutes less than the previous month…but still a lot for this one.
Universal Studios Florida – Everything Else
Okay, here are the park’s other average wait times for the past month:
- TRANSFORMERS: The Ride 3-D – 35 minutes, down 3
- Fast & Furious – Supercharged – 34 minutes, no change
- Hogwarts Express – King’s Cross Station – 33 minutes, down 9
- Ride Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon – 28 minutes, down 1
- The Simpsons Ride – 26 minutes, down 6
- T. Adventure – 24 minutes, down 4
- MEN IN BLACK Alien Attack! – 23 minutes, down 7
- Kang & Kodos’ Twirl ‘n’ Hurl – 19 minutes, down 8
Overall, guests at Universal Studios Florida waited for an average of 32 minutes. That’s seven minutes less than last month.
So, we’re definitely tracking the lower demand during May.
Universal’s Islands of Adventure
At Islands of Adventure, an opening day attraction has closed permanently.
While Universal quickly re-themed the show, Poseidon’s Fury has existed in some form for the park’s entire existence…until now.
Universal hasn’t announced a replacement for Poseidon’s Fury yet, which means that this show building will remain unoccupied for a while.
During the past month, guests flocked to Poseidon’s Fury for one last chance to walk through the world’s fakest water tunnel…and I mean that in the best possible way!
Otherwise, not much is happening at the park. The annual refurbishments have been completed, and Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure reopened.
So, this was a fairly casual month other than Poseidon’s Fury. Here were the park’s average waits:
- Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure – 84 minutes, down 29
- Jurassic World VelociCoaster – 63 minutes, down 11
- Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls – 42 minutes, down 7
- The Incredible Hulk Coaster – 38 minutes, down 8
- Pteranodon Flyers – 37 minutes, down 11
- Skull Island: Reign of Kong – 37 minutes, down 18
- The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man – 31 minutes, down 9
- Flight of the Hippogriff – 31 minutes, down 29
- Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey – 29 minutes, down 10
- Jurassic Park River Adventure – 25 minutes, down 12
- Hogwarts Express – Hogsmeade Station – 22 minutes, down 9
- Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges – 20 minutes, down 3
- The High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride – 18 minutes, down 7
- One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish – 16 minutes, down 6
- Doctor Doom’s Fearfall – 15 minutes, down 4
- The Cat in the Hat – 13 minutes, down 4
- Storm Force Accelatron – 9 minutes, down 2
- Caro-Seuss-el – 7 minutes, down 3
Let’s Talk about Universal’s Islands of Adventure
Overall, guests waited for an average of 29 minutes per attraction. That number reflects a significant drop of ten minutes or 26 percent.
Also, folks, please never stand in line for 60 minutes for Flight of the Hippogriff.
People inexplicably did that in April for whatever reason. In May, you can board the same ride in half the time!
By the way, I said in last month’s article that “the next six weeks represent one of the best times this year to visit because crowds will remain low until school ends.”
You’ve got about two more weeks for that premise to hold. Enjoy Universal Studios without crowds while you can!
Things will change during the second half of June!
