Universal Studios Hollywood Reveals Hollywood Drift
Whizbang action is right around the corner at Universal Studios Hollywood, bro.
Soon, you’ll be able to prove you’re a good driver on another Fast & Furious ride, bro.
Okay, I’m gonna stop doing that, but as a film critic from back in the day, I cannot express in words how much I hate 2 Fast 2 Furious.
Actual dialogue: “You’re a good driver, bro.”
No matter what anyone thinks about the film franchise, we’re all up for another roller coaster, right?
Well, one is coming to Universal Studios Hollywood in 2026.
Here’s what we know about Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift.
What Is Hollywood Drift?
From groundbreaking technology to breathtaking immersion, there is no other roller coaster like Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift. Coming in 2026. Get details: https://t.co/So3clSAZfg pic.twitter.com/M42Fs4nhZJ

First, the name may sound familiar to you, albeit not quite right.
That’s because the third film in the franchise was called The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. And it was better than the second film.
Alas, the new cast proved unpopular, leading to the return of Vin Diesel to the franchise.
That move proved best for everybody, as Fast & Furious reinvigorated the franchise and made stuff like this possible.
If Diesel had never come back to Fast & Furious, we definitely wouldn’t have this roller coaster today. So, it all worked out in the end.
What do we know about Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift (other than the release year)?
Universal has promised a “groundbreaking 360-degree rotation of the individual ride vehicles as they rocket along an elaborate track.”
Your ride cart’s motion will attempt to recreate the sensation of high-speed drifting as seen (often) in the movies.
About the Roller Coaster
Universal Studios Hollywood has never added a high-speed outdoor roller coaster before, so this is a big deal.
Universal officials sound thrilled with the ride’s development, promising that this ride will:
“elevate the guest experience with innovative and technological achievements never previously employed in a roller coaster.”
A Universal executive adds that the coaster “will be a powerful game changer that will infuse a new level of thrill into our already dynamic theme park.”
So, you can’t say that Universal isn’t hyping Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift enough.
Speaking of the ride carts, perhaps the most exciting part for franchise fans will be the style.
The various ride carts will mimic the look and style of popular vehicles seen in Fast & Furious films.
Finally, for Universal Studios Hollywood fans, perhaps the biggest news here is the ride’s layout.
This roller coaster will start at the park’s upper lot but finish at the lower lot, where the rider will experience several banked turns and inversions.
I’m curious to see how Universal pulls off the upper lot/lower lot transition. And the drifting sensation should be fun, too.
