Universal Orlando President Addresses Team After Guest Death on Stardust Racers
Universal Orlando Resort sent out a letter to its Team Members following the death of a guest at Epic Universe.
The incident occurred earlier this week on Stardust Racers after Kevin Rodriguez Zavala was found unresponsive on the roller coaster and later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The medical examiner ruled the death accidental with multiple blunt impact injuries.
Universal Response
In her letter, Universal Orlando Resort President & COO Karen Irwin expressed condolences, writing, “Our hearts are with our Guest’s family and loved ones, and with all of you who have been impacted by the tragic loss.”
She also emphasized that internal findings confirm the ride systems functioned as intended, with equipment intact throughout the ride cycle.
The attraction remains closed as the investigation continues. Irwin further asked team members to support one another and reminded them that emotional resources are available.
She reaffirmed that safety remains at the forefront of Universal’s operations.
