Volcano Bay Wave Pool Drained for Maintenance
Volcano Bay water park at Universal Orlando has been closed for the winter season, extending through March 1, 2021. In the picture below, you can see the wave pool in front of the volcano has been drained for seasonal maintenance.
Back in August, Universal announced that they will be cutting the operating hours at their Volcano Bay water park. The changes started on Tuesday, September 8th. At that time, Volcano Bay will be closed EVERY Tuesday and Thursday. we aren’t sure if those hours will still be in place when they open back up in March.
According to a piece on MyNews13, Universal said that the change in the schedule was based on “operational needs and travel trends.” This is just one of several announcements Universal has made over the last few weeks presumably as a response to lower-than-expected crowds levels. In early August they made the decision to shut down some lower traffic attractions across Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure.
Universal Orlando also suspended operations at Loews Sapphire Falls Resort. At that time a spokesperson for the company said, “We continue to evaluate our offerings and have decided to consolidate our hotel operations as we manage through current conditions.”
