Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure opened up 1 year ago today! With 10 hour waits on opening day, the ride was a success and well worth the wait.
For the first time ever, you can fly deep into the wilds of the Forbidden Forest, beyond the grounds of Hogwarts castle. As you twist past towering trees, magical creatures and wondrous surprises surround you. One misstep could drop you into an endless pit of Devil’s Snare, or put you in the sights of a centaur’s bow. Anything can happen here.

The Forbidden Forest is the setting for this new adventure. The queue immerses you into the ruins that have been abandoned for centuries. Hagrid uses the ruins to take care of his many creatures. 1,200 live trees were actually planted in the queue and ride to make the area more lifelike.
For the ride, you hop on an enchanted motorbike to tour the grounds. You can choose to ride either on the motorbike or the sidecar, with each giving a slightly different experience. The motorbike is higher up and allows you to stretch your arms, while the sidecar is lower to the ground. With 7 different launches throughout the ride, you’ll launch up to 50 miles per hour through the Forbidden Forest, past the ruins and more. The “Story Coaster” will catapult you 65 feet in the air at a more than 70-degree angle then drop you backward in one movement. Better hang on for this one!
This is the longest roller coaster in Florida, measuring nearly a mile in length. The whole attraction itself takes up seven acres!
You will come across Hagrid on the ride. He is the Universal creative team’s most life-like animated figure to date. He features 24 different body movements and facial expressions. He stands at 7 feet 6 inches tall which is Hagrid’s exact size in the books and films.
Throughout the ride, you’ll encounter Fluffy, a Centaur, Cornish pixies, Devil’s Snare, and a Blast-Ended Skrewt, all brought to life via terrific practical effects and animatronics.
For the first time, you will see the Blast-Ended Skrewt. It is described as a cross between a giant scorpion and an elongated crab, and was created by Hagrid. This creature that has not yet been brought to life onscreen and first made an appearance in the book Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
J.K. Rowling and her team were involved in the creation of the new attraction and gave input and notes.
